HEADS-UP DISPLAY
There is genius in simplicity. TRASOL is the first ballistic application to incorporate Heads-Up Display technology. By using your iPhone’s or iPad’s built-in camera and onboard sensors, TRASOL allows users to point their device at their target and automatically generate absolute accuracy solutions.

The HUD environment has highly intuitive drag-and-drop tools for quick input of range and wind, and the device’s sensors do the rest. The HUD also allows tracking of moving targets to provide very accurate lead solutions. Photo/video capturing capability allows you to log your shots easily and share them with your friends.

REFINED ACCURACY
Utilizing proprietary algorithms, TRASOL is the most accurate ballistics calculator on the planet. No more need to alter manufacturer bullet data to get your hits; we developed new algorithms using Doppler radar data to create the most predictive flight path possible.

In live-fire testing of TRASOL’s predictions the following results were documented (.338LM ammunition, using manufacturers published data):
• Within 0.1 MRAD up to 1400 yards
• Within 0.5 meters up to 1700 yards
• Within 1.1 meters at 2200 yards

TRASOL app good for

I shoot often out to 1500m and beyond, and well into transonic as often as possible. Theres certainly many cheap ballistics apps out there and I also have used several of those, but they use a contorted version of Point Mass ballistics formulas that simply falls apart in the transonic region. Additionally many, including best names, require false "tuning" to get them to come close to matching up in the supersonic region, as if your measured muzzle velocity should be shrugged off because Point Masss math doesnt like it. This app uses Pejsa, same as found in Cold Bore and used by professional shooters world wide, and its a different way of computing a ballistic solution that not only stands up in and beyond transonic, it also gives better solutions in the supersonic region because you dont have to adjust your BC or MV, you use what you get from your manufacturer and chronograph and the result is a solution that is dead on or within <.2mil elevation at most. Wind solutions Ive found are also much more accurate, certainly better than with anything else Ive used. Inputs are simple, units are easily converted with a touch, and use is intuitive.
I down loaded the original TRASOL, not so impressed with the UI. It was clunky to say the least. So today at the range I noticed an update. Holy coolness. A HUD that is a real HUD. What!!! An intuitive UI and a ballistic calc that works. Hallelujah. Pictures... Moving target speed calculators, wind direction thing. ZOooooom. What a refreshing change in the world of BCs. Well done Desert Tech, well done. Ummm whats next. Im off to the range again tomorrow to show some friends.
The HUD rocks!!! Way too easy and simple to use. Getting fast accurate solutions is a breeze with TRASOL and its new Heads up display!I. Thanks Desert Tech for making this available to long range shooters like me!

Some bad moments

Im faithful to DesertTech for a lot of things but this application is definatly not ready to be released and definately not for the asking price. Lets start with the user interface. I work in IT and can say I have yet to see a less user friendly interface. Nothing is intuitive, in fact items often do things that are totally against when you expect them to do. Next, lets talk about features you would expect on an app of this price. There are better free apps as far as features go. Support = non existant. Try sending an email to their contact address. Oh, thats right, it bounces back non existant. Try calling them asking for support. No one knows anything about the app. Only one update has been released in almost a year and it didnt fix the above items. Not ready to be purchased especially for $40.
With TRASOL my solutions are within 0.1 mils all the way out past 1500 yards! Amazing accuracy! My wife dropped her limited entry elk 670 yards using TRASOL. It was great to have the confidence that the program would put exactly where we were aiming. The app is missing some bells and whistles but the accuracy blows everything else out of the water big time!
Some things to note. 1. Cant delete rifles. 2. No bullet library 3. No kestrel connection. 4. No user manual. 5. Copy cats features found in less expensive apps. Hard to justify the cost with limited features.
I have never before seen a ballistics program produce results that are spot on. I wont use anything else anymore because I wont give of the predictive accuracy that TRASOL provides! Thanks Desert Tech for making this available to long range shooters like me!
